Zenyan Mythology

Zenya [zen-yuh, zeen-]

Originally named Zenia in her first novel, The Genius of Saardu, the author changed it to a 'y' in a later iteration. It became Zenya. Readers should not make the mistake of assuming that this slight change was meaningless. It is full of meaning, deep meaning to the author. It absolutely had to be Zenya instead of Zenia. Why?

In literary communication, every drop of ink, every pixel of black on the white page must be there for a purpose. Zenya is a composite of The Way of Zen and Kenya. Zen is first and foremost the author's favorite philosophical abstract painting of what it is to be. The word stimulates remembrance of an idea that is part of human DNA. Every religion, every mythology, has its Way of Zen. Its way of peace. Its way of love. Its way of hope, kindness, gentleness, meekness. Its Christlikeness. That is one aspect of this place, which is not really a location at all because that would require finite space, energy and matter, the author dubbed Zenya. The other aspect is its wildness, originality, and being the source of consciousness...Kenya, as in Africa, the birthplace of human sentience on Earth. Kenya, where safaris connect us with our ancestral DNA. Zenya is where we are from and where we are going.

Zenya is the eleventh dimension

There are eleven dimensions according to scientists who study the universe and have come up with a mathematical formula that explains the universe, which is still far too mysterious to comprehend. Yet strive to understand ourselves and it, we must.

Zen frames that as our purpose. We are the universe looking at itself. We are consciousness briefly placed in this dimension, the fourth dimension, the one ruled by gravity and time, to experience being alive from this perspective. It is impossible to fail. Even to lose awareness of the nature of the game, the reality of who we are, consciousness of the fact that we choose to be here--not that we chose--for the choosing happens outside of time, the choosing happens at Zenyan, in our Zenyan state, and is a living dynamic thing.

You are Zenyan. You may forget that. You may have never known it before, but now you know and you cannot un-know.

Zenya is part of a whole new myth created by GC Herzenity, a.k.a. Carma Gagne Chan, author of Saardu stories and more. She began to establish Herzenity as a brand, a new genre. Zenya is futuristic, without being dystopian or utopian. It is alien and simultaneously innate.

Zenya can be talked about more as a situation rather than a place. When one is at Zenya, that is where their head is at. In the Sixties, young people would ask each other, "Where you at, man?" They would said, "That's where it's at!" Meaning, something was everything you desire.

Zenyan concepts

In the Beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God. And the Word was God. At Zenyan, things are spoken into being. You and I speak things into being. We are Zenyan. We do it all the time, in perceptions we create through spoken and symbolized words.

Be careful what you speak.

It is written by ancients that in many words there is much imperfection. Some say it another, in much words there is much sin.

Silence is a gift. It gives ideas room to breathe and dissipate. It gives us space to choose thoughtfully the reality of this moment.

Zen buddhists are not people who sit and meditate all day, except when we do. Zen buddhists laugh, cook, chop wood, carry water, nurture plants, dance, watch movies, snorkel, hike, work--there is an old Zen saying, "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water."

We are here now. Be where you are. Be what you are. Be who you are. Bloom where you are planted.

This is all there is. These five senses. This energy. These molecules interacting. These thoughts. This weather. This floor. This roof. Wherever you are, there you be.

Be here now. In this moment. Ready. Set. Create.

The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be.
